Once you arrive at Ka lani Massage Specialists, you will be asked to fill out an intake form to record any relevant medical history, injuries or physical conditions we should be aware of. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early for your appointment to complete the form. Your therapist will review the form with you, and discuss the reasons for your visit and any specific areas you would like to address during your massage. The therapist then creates a therapy plan. Massage Therapy includes a variety of styles with numerous areas of focus. Clients come in with a wide range of issues and needs. Client goals include everything from helping manage chronic pain to stress relief and relaxation.
"What do I wear during my massage”, or “Do I have to completely undress for my massage?” Many first time clients stress about getting undressed for a massage. But to receive the maximum benefit from your massage you need to be relaxed and it can be difficult to relax if you are worrying about being exposed. Remember one of the most important components of a great massage is for you to be relaxed and comfortable. It’s important for you to understand no matter how much you disrobe, while you are on the table during a professional massage, you will be covered by a draping sheet, and a blanket. The only part of your body exposed is the area being addressed (i.e. arm, leg, back). Most clients are about a 50/50 mix of those that completely disrobe and those who leave their underwear on. But again, disrobe to your comfort level. Your therapist will work with you. During the massage, please make sure to communicate with your therapist about the pressure he or she is applying. Though many massage therapists can tell when they are using light or deep pressure, it is always good to let them know how you feel. If you want more or less pressure, be sure to communicate that—the massage is all about you! Each session is tailor made for the individual. With everything done in an integrative way. Our work tends to be very intuitive, moving from technique to technique as we discover connections within the body. When your massage session is complete, the practitioner will leave the room so that you can get dressed. Sit up slowly and take your time getting dressed. Your Therapist will knock to make sure you are ready before returning to the room. The session is concluded with a post massage interview during which your Therapist will discuss how you feel and give recommendations that will be helpful. After your massage make sure to drink plenty of water. .......and of course tell all your friends how great you feel!!!
